#12 choose your Self - poem (5/30/23)

choose your Self

if there is one thing that i have learned thus far 

during this escapade with life 

it is that 

choosing to meet the needs of others before my own 

is a helpless dance with what-ifs and guilt laced resentments.

it is that

to truly embody a heart-centered approach to connection 

soaked in love as an action 

i must first decide that 

it is time that I walk through my life for Self.

for it is from this place of rootedness that I can remain 

                                                                                        firmly 

                                                                                        grounded 

                                                                                        for  

                                                                                        

past,                                                                                present, and                        future 

                                                                                        generations 

                                                                                        to 

                                                                                        come
