#28 Glimmers Over Triggers (6/15/23)

Glimmers Over Triggers, 2022
7" x 10" watercolor on cold pressed paper

For PTSD awareness month I initially planned to talk about how the opposite of triggers are glimmers, and then stepped outside my door to take a picture of my painting "Glimmers Over Triggers" and saw a swallowtail butterfly fluttering about. A living example of what it means to notice glimmers right before my eyes.

The yellow and black coloring of the swallowtail has been reminding me of my sister Mercedes since her transition from this physical plane of existence. I feel her presence being with me and know that she is stopping by to say hello whenever one is near: her reminder that with death always comes a re-birth.

Admittedly, I was a bit teary eyed about Mercedes earlier. Thank you for the reminder to smile and to intentionally choose to notice glimmers over triggers, big sis. I love and miss you.

until next time, with Love, the DLB
